During the time of living in Georgia, we know there has come a time where many people have wanted to experience what thrifting was like. So many people post on platforms, like Instagram or TikTok, of all their crazy finds such as Prada purses, Von Dutch pants, or any other rare designer brand pieces. With your first experience thrifting, you typically are fully expecting to leave with the same experience, however it ends up being the complete opposite. For us, and we know for many others, it can be quite overwhelming when trying to thrift some pieces, especially something you’re particularly looking for. Many people even have a hard time finding thrift stores that suit their interests. So if this is also you, we are here to list you some stores that we have found to be quite popular that typically would have unique and vintage pieces that will most likely suit what you are searching for!
The first thrift store we would recommend, especially if you are more into vintage
pieces, is Ecologie VIntage & Resale. This vintage store is one of our favorite thrift stores and pretty popular if you live north of Atlanta. The staff, as well as the store set up, is very warm and welcoming. They are very on style with current trends while also keeping in mind to have unique pieces, staying consistent with what kind of pieces they sell, and a particular image they want for their brand. Some pieces there many would have never see before in other typical thrift/vintage stores! They definitely love their colors and patterns, and what is also nice is that they color coordinate, so if there is a color that you don’t like or doesn’t suit you or is your absolute favorite, it’s very easy to navigate. Here are some images of what the outside and inside of the store look like so you can see the type of aesthetic this store has that hopefully you find appealing and in your interest!
Another thrift store, that is actually very similar to Plato’s closet, is Uptown Cheapskate. At this store you not only can purchase recycled clothing, but you can also sell your own clothes that you have outgrown. In addition, you also can use the money you make from selling your clothes as credit in the store. There’s been many times where one has sold clothes here and didn’t have to pay for any pieces simply because they had a lot of store credit to use! Another reason we love this store is because, like Ecologie Vintage & Resale, they are very on trend and consistent with their pieces. However, where Ecologie liked more of the vintage pieces, Uptown Cheapskate more focused on selling girly pieces and having the appearance that you would typically see in a southern, girly boutique. Here are some pictures of the outside and inside as well!
If you have visited Little Five Points, you know that there are many thrift stores in that area. One of our favorites is Rag-O-Rama, which is a very huge store that sales a variety of pieces. Some pieces Danielle has personally found are a SP5DER WORLDWIDE hoodie, Doctor Martins, Jordans, and vintages t-shirts, so if this streetwear style is definitely your interest, we highly recommend this store! In addition to Rag-O-Rama, another thrift store at Little Five Points is the Junkman’s Daughter. This store had about anything you can think of, such as home decor, clothing, shoes, jewelry, posters, ANYTHING! Their pieces are so unique, and since the store is HUGE, they have a wide variety of different styles and looks. Little Five Points has a ton more thrift store in the area with different styles so we highly recommend to check them all out!
Lastly, we know that Goodwill can typically be a hit or miss, especially if you searching for those rare vintage designer brand pieces or anything very specific. If this is what you are currently searching for and Goodwill is typically your go to thrift store, we highly recommend going to the Goodwill locations in Atlanta, like Buckhead or Midtown (we even the location in Alpharetta was great!), where you will have more of a chance of hitting the jackpot!
